FAQ

  1. Does the provider have to complete the section on the claim form?
     The section to be completed relates to the eye prescription. If this section is not completed you must obtain and include a copy of your eye prescription to you claim.
  2. I purchased my glasses and was told they were purchased too early. What does this mean? Isn’t this close enough to my 2 years?
     The Plan requires that 24 consecutive months lapse between your last purchase and your new purchase. The policy requirement is upheld to ensure everyone is treated equally. We suggest you check with the claims office or your vision care provider before purchasing your next eyeglasses or contacts to ensure you have met the 24 month requirement .
  3. Do you cover eye exams for children?
     No. Your provincial government Plan should cover the cost for this exam for children under 20 years old.
  4. Does my Plan cover eye examinations performed by my doctor?
     An eye exam must be performed by a qualified optometrist or ophthalmologist.
  5. What is the difference between an optometrist or ophthalmologist?
     An Optometrist performs eye exams and can supply prescribed glasses or contacts. An Ophthalmologist performs eye exams and provides prescriptions for glasses or contacts based on exam results. An ophthalmologist also deals with eye conditions requiring drugs and/ or surgery as necessary. They do not supply eyeglasses or contacts.
