The Allowance Program is a non-taxable monthly benefit for low-income seniors between the ages of 60-64. An Allowance may be provided to if you are age 60 to 64 and you have lived in Canada after reaching age 18 for at least 10 years. The maximum Allowance is equal to the OAS pension and the GIS at the married recipient’s rate.

Allowance for the Survivor Program
The Allowance for the Survivor program provides a non-taxable monthly benefit to low-income widowed spouses, age 60 to 64, who have lived in Canada after reaching age 18 for at least 10 years.
